Printing in pCon.planner PRO

In pCon.planner PRO there is a comprehensive Layout area besides the Printing dialog (which is mainly for quick printout of specific design areas and views). The Layout area enables you to create and adapt pages individually for printout. There is more on the Layout area in the relevant section.

The Print dialog

One print option is to be found under the Print entry in the Application menu. There the choice is whether to go for immediate printing (Quick Print), to look at the Print Preview or to make certain Print settings, which are adapted by clicking on the Print entry and completing the Print Setup dialog which then appears (see screenshot below). The most important options within the dialog are dealt with in the following sections.

Rendering

The type of output selected (Image, Wireframe or Hidden Line) will decide the type of rendering for the area to be printed. The Image item offers options different from those for Wireframe and Hidden Line (see table below).

If no other settings are made (see Print area) it will always be the currently active viewport which is assumed to be the Print Area.

Description

Options

Image

The rendering which will be printed will be that of the design area. If you for example have set Realistic in the design area, this will be the mode for the printout.

In Image mode there are print options for Quality and Background color.

Wireframe

Whatever rendering being used in the design area, this item will ensure the print comes as a Wireframe rendering.

In Wireframe mode there are print options for Line Width and Line Color.

Hidden Line

Whatever rendering being used in the design area, this item will ensure the print comes as a Hidden Line rendering.

In Hidden line mode there are print options for Line Width and Line Color.

Print Area

The small Print Area selection box enables you to fix the area you wish to print. Here the choices are between Display and Window; Display applies to the currently active viewport. Selecting Window means that an area can be specified with the mouse. This is how:

1.Click on Window in the Print Area selection box.

2.Now set the origin of the area to be expanded by clicking there in whichever viewport you wish.

3.You can alter the dimensions of the area by moving the mouse.

4.A second click concludes the selection process. You will be returned automatically to the Print dialog. You can make a different choice of area to be printed by clicking on the Select Window button.

In the screenshot below, an example of the selection of a Print Area is given.

Further settings

There are more items in the dialog, offering the possibility of setting Margins, Paper or Scale. For each printout it is possible to enter whether it is to be adapted to the paper size selected or is to be printed true to scale.
