Properties

The Property Editor, found by clicking the button of the same name in the Object group, Edit tab, provides information on a number of object properties and the possibility to edit them in the dialog. First, the object must be selected in the plan.

There are differences between the dialogs in pCon.planner and pCon.planner PRO, described below.

Property Editor in the free version of pCon.planner

Having selected an object, you can edit several of its features in the Property Editor. For the screenshot below, the example of a light source has been used. In the shot, the pCon.catalog-Icon is in shades of grey. It will be activated as soon as any object which was added from pCon.catalog is selected. You can get directly into the relevant online catalog simply by clicking on the icon.

Property Editor in pCon.planner PRO

In pCon.planner PRO, there is another icon next to the online catalog link. This opens the meta-dialog Custom Configuration. The various object features are listed immediately below the icons. At the bottom of the dialog is the property container with the options it provides. For example, you can select one of the features of your object in the panel above, copy it into the property container and then assign it to another object. Read more here.

The Property Editor can be used either as a floating or a docked element in pCon.planner. The term floating means that it will appear as a separate window in pCon.planner, as shown in the screenshot on the left.

There is also the possibility of docking the Property Editor on the bottom, top, left or right side of the viewport.

This is how:

1.Click on the Property Editor window, hold the mouse button down and drag the window.

2.Arrows will then appear in the center and at the edges of the viewport, so that you can see where you can dock the editor window (see next screenshot).

3.Move the Property Editor window onto one of the arrows at the edges with the mouse button held down.

4.On approaching the arrow you will see a translucent blue frame appear, showing where the editor would end up.

5.If you release the mouse button the Property Editor will dock.

The following screenshot shows the Property Editor docked at the left-hand edge.

In the screenshot above, there is a pin visible on the Property Editor window, circled in red. In the status shown, the editor will take up a section of the viewport for the whole time. If you click on the pin, the Property Editor will collapse automatically when it is not required. It is then present at that edge in the form of a tab and will open when the cursor passes over the tab.

It is also possible to dock other dialogs and windows as well as the Property Editor, among them the Media Maker, the Folder Manager and the Layer dialog.
