What is a backup file and how do I use it?

Backup files ensure that your plans are not lost should pCon.planner crash.

pCon.planner automatically creates a backup file for your current plan – as long as you haven’t disabled this option in the Program Settings. We recommend leaving the automatic creation of backup files enabled.

What should I consider when disabling High Quality Printing?

16.06.2017 | Print - Render quality | 0 Comments |

Rating: 4.0/5 (1 vote cast)

When printing view ports in the Layout area and in Print Preview, the High Quality Printing option is enabled by default. A mixed process is used for printing: visible lines, edges, dots, hatching and fonts are based on vectors. With vector printing, these elements remain sharp, even when greatly enlarged. Colors and textures are printed as images.

What causes graphical presentation problems to occur?

16.06.2017 | Graphics drivers - Hardware | 0 Comments |
VN:RO [1.9.20_1166]
Rating: 1.7/5 (3 votes cast)

The cause of this is often inadequate graphics hardware. Please check if you have an integrated onboard solution (integrated graphics card) in use. This graphics solution is not recommended when working with pCon.planner. Generally speaking, these do not have their own graphics memory and their performance with 3D is usually below average.

pCon.planner offers a compatibility mode to support onboard systems. To activate this mode, proceed as follows.

Why are the input values for wall parameters so large in some cases?

16.06.2017 | Miscellaneous - Operating systems - Program settings | 0 Comments |

Rating: 3.0/5 (2 votes cast)

After inputting values for a wall’s Height and Thickness parameters, the values are not taken into account when the wall is created. Instead of the entered values, extremely large numbers appear in the input field and are then used when the wall is drawn.

The reason for this error is usually caused by using the same separators for both decimal points and digit groups. Generally, each separator is different. In Germany, the comma serves as the separator for decimal points, e.g. for the value 123,45. Digit groups are separated from one another using points, e.g. for larges numbers such as 1.234.567.

Why is the size of a DWG file different in an opened or unopened state?

16.06.2017 | Miscellaneous - pCon.planner - Planning | 0 Comments |
VN:RO [1.9.20_1166]
Rating: 0.0/5 (0 votes cast)

The DWG format is a compressed file format. As with a packed file, the file size displayed in your system (e.g. in Windows Explorer) does not occupy the same size as the plan that you edit in pCon.planner. How much memory an opened DWG file uses can vary, and many factors can determined the amount of memory used.

There are several alternatives to relocate the User Coordinate System (UCS) if you want to use it as a means to move objects in relation to a given position in the plan.

Why are images or textures blurred or pixelated?

26.08.2016 | Miscellaneous - pCon.planner - Planning - Render quality | 0 Comments |

You inserted a floor plan as an image and it appears blurred or pixelated.

pCon.planner will display images and textures up to a maximum resolution of 2048×2048 pixels in good quality. If you insert an image larger than this, the program will undercalculate the resolution and the image may no longer appear clear. The display depends on the content of the image. Fine lines, for example, are more affected than colored areas. Floor plans, in particular, should therefore be imported in a suitable resolution. This restriction works to keep the size of the plan low, saving both internal and graphics memory.

What is the Insert Unit and how do I use it?

22.08.2016 | pCon.planner - Planning - Program settings | 0 Comments |
VN:RO [1.9.20_1166]
Rating: 1.8/5 (6 votes cast)

The Insert Unit indicates the unit of measure in which objects should be inserted. You can change this by clicking on the Application Menu, choosing Document Properties and switching to the Settings tab. Changes pertain to the current plan.

The correct Insert Unit is important if you are editing plans from other CAD programs.
