In the following you will learn about Articles and Models and how they can be distinguished.
Articles are objects that can be configured. In contrast to simple objects, articles are based on the OFML (office furniture modeling language) data format. OFML articles are equipped with a certain number of commercially relevant features which may or may not be interdependent.
Imagine, for instance, that a manufacturer is marketing a table in three different versions. Each will be priced differently. If one of the versions is selected, not only the graphic representation will be altered in the Properties Editor but also the price because this feature has been programmed to depend on the version of the table.
The screenshot below gives an example of an article. This is a table with nine features which can be configured to a certain extent by the user of pCon.planner.
From manufacturer to manufacturer, an “article’s” properties may vary in quantity, nature or interdependency.
Additional information on working with Articles can be found here.
Models give you access to furnishing and equipment not included in your locally installed OFML manufacturer data. Models are geometries from pCon.catalog that contain some product information. Whenever you download a piece of furniture or equipment from pCon.catalog, it is inserted to your drawing as a model.
Unlike articles, models never contain pricing information.
Models are downloaded into your drawings directly from pCon.catalog. As an alternative option, you can also import them as PEC or PBOX files or as DWG. In contrast to conventional geometries, the Product Information window will contain information on the selected model.
Note: Models are not included into Article Lists, commercial processes or commercial exports. |
